Prof. Robert Nathan Liven, a senior lecturer of Vanier College, Canada visited Mangalayatan University (MU) to explore the possibilities of collaboration between the two institutions .
Prof Liven was welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Satish Chandra Jain in traditional fashion. After a brief discussion with the VC, Prof Liven met other senior officials of the University which included the HOD, Deans and Directors of all the institutes. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Satnam Mathur ,briefed him about the various activities of the University and the exciting plans for future developments.
According to Prof. Liven , the Quebec government wanted him to visit Mangalayatan University to evaluate the potential for all sorts of future engagements. Quebec is the second largest city of Canada and has several educational institutions of repute. According to Prof. Liven, Mangalayatan University is one of the leading universities in India and is a symbol of the bright future for the whole of Indian community. He said that on his return he would present his report to the Quebec Government so that the government can take further steps to establish strong new educational bonds with MU. He also said that Quebec Government and Vanier College not only wants high quality education , but also believes educational institutions should emphasize social values , good morals and develop a sense of social responsibility in students. Dr. Liven expressed great pleasure in knowing that three groups of students of Mangalayatan University are working to fulfill social obligations to the nearby community. These groups educate poor children, generate awareness about environmental change and instill strong disciplinary values in people’s lives via religious and cultural activities.
Prof Liven appreciated comfortable hostel, modern laboratories and libraries. He was particularly thrilled to see Institute of Visual, Performing Arts & Research , television studio of Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication and Aviation labs of Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management. Both he and the MU leadership eagerly look forward to strengthening the association at various levels in the near future.
