The MSc Agriculture course mainly focuses on advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills in agricultural sciences. The main subjects included are Principles of Crop Production, Agricultural Economics, Soil Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Agricultural Extension Plant Breeding and Genetics, and Agricultural Engineering.
It is a PG program where students can have multiple specializations such as entomology, agronomy, agriculture business management, agricultural economics, biotechnology, plant physiology, horticulture, etc. Field visit and practical sessions on the farm and lab work is also a part of the course. The students can be admitted either merit-wise or based on the entrance exam. In India, an autonomous body is responsible for coordinating agricultural education.
